ChipMachine — Support

Support and help for the macOS app.

Getting started

ChipMachine is a visual music player and collection browser for the music of retro computers and games consoles. When it opens, it builds its searchable index once — after that, everything is a keystroke away.

Playing your own files

Open local files from Finder, or drag them onto the ChipMachine window or its icon. ChipMachine registers as an alternate handler for the formats it supports, so it never takes files away from a player you already use — to make it the default for a format, use Finder’s Get Info → Open with → Change All.

Do I need an internet connection?

For the online library, yes. No music ships inside the app — tracks are fetched on demand from publicly available archives when you play them. Local file playback works completely offline.

Something not working?

Bug reports and questions are welcome. The most useful report says what you were playing, what you expected, and what happened instead — and includes the version from the title bar.
