ChipMachine — Privacy Policy

ChipMachine for macOS · Last updated 7 August 2026

ChipMachine collects no personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and nothing about you or your listening is sent to the developer.

What the app stores

Your settings, the music index it builds, and downloaded files it has cached are stored locally on your Mac, inside the app’s own container. They stay on your device, are never transmitted anywhere, and are removed when you delete the app.

Network connections

No music is bundled with the app. When you play a track from the online library — or listen to a radio station or podcast — ChipMachine requests that file directly from the public archive that hosts it. It also fetches artwork and cover images the same way.

These are ordinary web requests to third parties, so the servers involved can see your IP address and which file was requested, in the same way any web browser would reveal it. Those services are operated independently and have their own privacy practices. ChipMachine sends no identifier of its own, and the developer receives no record of these requests.

Nothing is requested until you press play. Playing local files requires no network connection at all.

Your files

ChipMachine runs in Apple’s App Sandbox. It can read a local music file only when you explicitly open it — through Finder, the Open dialog, or by dragging it onto the app. It has no access to the rest of your disk, and the contents of your files are never uploaded or transmitted.

Children

The app collects no data from anyone, including children. It is a music player with no social features, no messaging, and no user-generated content.

Changes

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated date above.
