Intro-style Fade-in/out Star by Mihailo Despotovic, March 1996

A little DOS graphics demo for the 640×480 VGA screen. First the 16 colors of the palette, each with a sample of text; then, at every key press, a star flashes at a random spot: its rays grow out in white, light gray and dark gray, it holds for a moment, and it shrinks away. Esc ends it. Click the screen or use the buttons for the keys.

The star's settings, from the top of zvezda() (“star”)

On the palette screen, “Primer teksta” means “Sample text”; color 00 is black, so its line is written but can't be seen. The star's pixels are the same as the original's: the original zvezda() was run in C, recording the screen at every pause, and every screen matched. The star also switched on the PC speaker at 8000 Hz, for duz_zvuka (“sound length”) of 0 ms, so it is silent, then as now. The text uses an 8×8 font in the style of the BGI's.
